It was learned that members of the Iraqi Parliament’s Transportation Commission conducted research on the ban on flights imposed by Turkey during their inspections at the airport. Kirkuk researcher and author Meral Saatçi made a statement on the subject, saying, “The security measures taken by Turkey should be seriously evaluated. The delegation consisting of members of the Iraqi Parliament’s Transportation Commission conducted inspections to investigate why the airport was subject to these sanctions . Although no clear results have yet been obtained, the details of how the PKK operates from the airport will be revealed.”
Erşat Salihi, the head of the Turkmen Group in the Iraqi Parliament and Kirkuk MP, stated that the Iraqi administration has finally understood that the PKK presence poses a threat not only to Turkey but also to Iraq’s security.
