Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Weekly Press Conference
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kenani evaluated his country’s foreign policy agenda and important developments in the region at the weekly press conference. Kenani emphasized that Iran prioritizes its relations with its neighboring countries and especially its ties with eastern countries such as Russia and China.
“Iran’s policy of good relations with neighbors is seriously a high priority.”Kenani stated that this approach is not only a tactical choice but also a strategic decision. “The look to the East strategy has an important place among the priorities of the government and the diplomatic system.”he added.
On a question about the possibility of resuming nuclear negotiations between Iran and Western countries, Kenani said: “It is extremely regrettable that the Western parties do not allow the implementation of the multilateral diplomatic path.”he said Kenani stated that he believes that if the other side shows the will to revive the nuclear agreement, the path to an agreement may still remain open and a diplomatic opportunity exists for the parties.
Additionally, Kenani added that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakchi and European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell agreed to meet soon.
When asked a question about Tehran’s stance on the Zangezur Corridor and the recent statements made by Iranian officials against Russia on this issue, Kenani said: “We support the removal of obstacles on economic and transit routes, and this process should be carried out taking into account the interests of all relevant countries.”he said
Finally, responding to the news that Iranian facilities were targeted in Israeli attacks in Syria, Kenani argued that these attacks were not true.
