Information About İnalti Cave
According to the information shared by the Sinop Governorship, the İnaltı Cave, which developed in the limestone-shale, sandstone contact, is a fossil cave with horizontal extension. The entrance of the cave, which extends in a large “S” direction in the east and west, and the hall behind it were formed on a distinct fault. The ceiling height is more than 20 meters and the width is 18 meters.
The entrance hall of the İnaltı Cave, which is 125 meters long, opens onto a smooth gallery with a ceiling height of 6-22 meters and a width of 7-13 meters. As a result of geological studies, it was determined that the cave is a young cave, 75 million years old.
İnaltı Cave is 36 km from Ayancık district, 94 km from Sinop city center, 620 km from Istanbul, 350 km from Ankara and 111 km from Kastamonu. Sinop Governor Mustafa Özarslan, together with Nature Conservation and National Parks 10th Regional Deputy Director Rıfat Erdal and İnaltı Village Headman Adnan Keskin visited and examined Ayancık İnaltı Cave.
