İmamoğlu’s Olympic Getaway in Paris
CHP’s Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu went to Paris, the capital of France, at a time when citizens were expecting service. It is alleged that İmamoğlu, who went to Paris under the pretext of attending the Olympic Games, neglected his primary duties during this trip.
It has been reported that CHP’s IMM rented a luxurious palace in Paris for 250 thousand euros and that he enjoyed his vacation in this palace together with CHP mayors in Istanbul. It has also been revealed that İmamoğlu did not use any official leave during his 10-day vacation and received a travel allowance in euros by assigning himself.
AK Party School Reacts to İmamoğlu
IMM AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Zeynel Abidin Okul harshly criticized İmamoğlu’s luxurious vacation in Paris. The school, who shared a post from his X account, stated that it was unacceptable for a dynamic city like Istanbul, where every moment is spent to the fullest, to be abandoned to its fate with such a management approach.
The school stated that such trips made under the pretext of the Olympics contradicted the services that were not met by the people of Istanbul and the increasing bill increases. It continued its criticism by saying, “The way to serve Istanbul is not through Rome and Paris, but by walking the streets and avenues of 39 districts.”
Sponsorships and Request for Transparency
The school called for transparency on who pays for İmamoğlu’s expenses and what the sponsorships are in return for. It stressed that Istanbulites have a right to know these details and said, “We will continue to ask these questions on their behalf to their interlocutors.”
The school argued that the people of Istanbul should be informed about such expenditures and sponsorship agreements of the municipality administration, and stated that answering such questions is essential for the future of the city.
