Hurricane Beryl, which has been affecting the Caribbean for the past week, is approaching the Texas coast of the United States. The affected areas include Matagorda County and the city of Corpus Christi. The hurricane is moving northwest at 10 miles per hour (16 kilometers per hour) and has peak winds of 78.7 miles per hour (128.7 kilometers per hour).

A hurricane warning has been issued for the Texas coast from Mesquite Bay north to Port Bolivar. Citizens have taken precautions by boarding up windows in their homes and businesses. Residents of coastal towns have begun to leave the area following evacuation orders. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has warned of power outages and flooding risks due to the hurricane. However, it has been reported that many people continue to stay in the area despite the warnings.

What is a Hurricane and Where Does It Affect?

Kasırga Nedir ve Nerelerde Etkili Olur?

Hurricanes are natural disasters that occur in tropical regions. They consist of high-speed winds, heavy rainfall, and giant waves rotating around a low-pressure center. Hurricanes are generally defined as large-scale storms that develop over warm water surfaces. The low pressure at the center causes high-speed winds and dense cloud systems to move in a spiral pattern.

Cyclone Beryl is located east-southeast of Barbados and is expected to bring heavy rainfall and storms with the potential for rising water levels. Beryl is also the earliest Category 4 hurricane to form in the Atlantic hurricane season, occurring from June 1 to November 30.
