In a written statement, the Ministry of Health stated that due to the attacks of the occupying Israeli army on the Gaza Strip, Palestinians were forced to leave the areas they were living in. The statement pointed out that many health centers, especially in Khan Younis, which the Israeli army previously claimed to be “safe”, were out of service due to the attacks.

The statement, which stated that medical needs have reached an extreme level, included the following statements: “Despite the urgent need, it is no longer possible to reopen the European Hospital.” The statement warned that Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, the only hospital still operating despite all the difficulties and obstacles, could be out of service, and noted that this situation could be a sign of a health disaster.

It was reported that the increasing number of displaced people, in addition to the lack of water they are experiencing, the establishment of living spaces among places where sewage flows and garbage accumulates, and the lack of access to hygiene materials make it completely suitable for the spread of viruses, epidemics and polio.

The ministry called on international organizations to intervene quickly and urgently to protect the surviving health institutions, ensure continuity of health services and provide essential supplies. According to the latest figures from the Gaza Government Media Office, more than 1.7 million displaced people have contracted infectious diseases due to displacement and overcrowding. According to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the European Hospital in Gaza in Khan Younis was out of service at the beginning of July due to Israeli evacuation orders.
