Gaza Health Ministry Opens Investigation into Israel Regarding Death Incident
The Director General of the Gaza Health Ministry, Munir Abdullah al-Berş, stated in a statement that the occupying state of Israel has launched an internal investigation into the death of a Palestinian doctor who died on May 2. Berş stated that they requested the necessary information from Israel after his family rejected their request for an autopsy.
Family Seeks International Investigation
Bersh announced that his family is demanding an international investigation into the detention of his uncle’s son while on duty in Gaza and his death in an Israeli prison. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Association announced in a statement on May 2 that Bersh, who was detained in the Gaza Strip, died in an Israeli prison.

It was reported that Bersh was detained with his colleagues in Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza in December 2023. The statement said, “According to received information from the relevant Palestinian authorities, Bersh was martyred in Ofer Prison in Israel on April 19 and his body has still not been delivered.” The family is requesting support from the international community to shed light on Bersh’s death and hold those responsible accountable.
