Funeral Prayer in Absence and Protest in Diyarbakır

Diyarbakır'da Gıyabi Cenaze Namazı ve Protesto

In Diyarbakır, at the historic Grand Mosque, which is considered the 5th Haram al-Sharif of the Islamic world, citizens performed a funeral prayer in absentia after Friday prayers. The crowd that came together in this meaningful event gathered to voice their reaction to Israel’s attacks.

Following the prayer, the crowd gathered in front of the mosque, led by various civil society organizations, and continued their protests by chanting slogans against Israel. Making a statement on behalf of the group, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eşref Vehicle, Provincial Representative of the International Doctors Association, showed a strong reaction to the attacks carried out by Israel, emphasizing that these events are unacceptable in the name of humanity.

Following the statement, some people from the crowd showed their reaction by throwing stones at a restaurant chain store on Gazi Street that they were passing by. Meanwhile, security forces waiting in front of the store tried to prevent the incident from escalating further by giving warnings to the group members. As a result of the warnings, the crowd dispersed from the area.
