According to the topic determined by the General Directorate of Religious Services, this week’s Friday sermon has been determined as “Our means to heaven, our family elders.”
Honorable Muslims!
On the day Mecca was conquered, Muslims were joyful. The Prophet’s friend, Hazrat Abu Bakr, brought his father, whom he wanted to become a Muslim, to the Prophet and his father became a Muslim.
Dear Believers!
Our elders are important keys for us. They are our means of mercy and forgiveness. Their presence is the blessing of our homes, their absence is heartache. Our elders are our guides who prepare us for life.
Dear Muslims!
Our elders have taught us love, respect, kindness and justice. Showing respect to them means protecting our past. Our relationships with them strengthen our bond with our Lord.
Dear Believers!
We find peace in our families, not in our individuality. It is our responsibility to take care of our elders and receive their prayers. Our relationships with our relatives and elders strengthen our bond with our Lord.
Dear Muslims!
Respecting our elders as they age helps us gain the approval of our Lord. Treating them with compassion and mercy, making their lives easier, provides us with spiritual gain. Respecting our elders helps us attain the respect of our Lord.
I will end my sermon with the following hadith of our Prophet: “If a young man shows respect to an old man, Allah will prepare someone to show respect to him in his old age.” [Tirmidhi, Birr, 75.]
