Neck pain is one of the most common types of regional pain after back pain. One in three people experience neck pain at some point in their lives. Today, with the increase in cell phone and computer use, neck pain is also becoming more common. However, according to experts, neck pain is not only caused by problems in the neck area, but also by disorders in the internal organs.
Prof. Dr. Hasan Mirzai says the following about the underlying causes of neck pain: “Conditions such as cervical disc herniation, lung tumors, heart diseases and spinal cord tumors can cause neck pain.” In the treatment process, determining the underlying cause of the problem is of great importance. Prof. Dr. Mirzai explains, “While rest, exercise and muscle relaxants can be effective in muscle-related neck pain, medication and physical therapy can yield successful results in cases such as hernia or calcification. However, if the pain persists despite treatment, surgical intervention may be “necessary.”
Experts say that recurring or long-term neck pain should be evaluated in detail. Early diagnosis is vital and of great importance in the treatment process.
