France is going to the polls today to elect members of parliament, following President Emmanuel Macron’s controversial early election decision. In the first round of the elections, 49.5 million voters will vote to elect 577 deputies.
The second round of the elections in France, in which 4.09 candidates will compete, will take place on July 7. Candidates who receive 12.5 percent or more of the vote in the first round will be able to participate in the second round.
It is commented that the election result in France may increase economic difficulties and create dualism in the country.

Far-right Marine Le Pen’s party, RN, nominated its young leader Jordan Bardella as its candidate for prime minister before the parliamentary elections. Bardella promises to pursue a policy opposed to Macron.

In the last parliamentary elections, Macron’s alliance of RE, MoDem and Horizons won 250 seats, while the alliance of the far-right RN and LR parties won 149 seats, while the left-wing parties won 178 seats.

Nationwide polls show that the RN alliance will come out on top in the first round by a wide margin. It looks like the Popular Front will come in second place and Macron’s alliance in third place.
