The Zijiang River in central China’s Hunan Province overflowed for the third time this year, reaching alert level on Saturday night. The river has overflowed three times in five days, posing increasing challenges to flood control.
Local authorities in Anhua County are using drones to prevent flooding along the river. Officials say drone patrols are faster and cover a wider area than human patrols. A drone can complete a patrol of the Zijiang River section of the county in just 20 minutes and can quickly detect potential hazards.
