Fish Production Facility in Bozova District of Şanlıurfa
Fish was milked at the fish production center belonging to the Fisheries and Aquaculture Branch Directorate of the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, located in the Bozova district of Şanlıurfa. It is aimed to raise 25 million baby fish this year.
The offspring, which are obtained by fertilizing eggs taken from female fish with male fish, are raised in concrete pools of the facility located in the Atatürk Dam basin. After the offspring reach a size of 2 centimeters, they are taken to earthen pools to be released into inland waters.
This year, it is aimed to raise 25 million baby fish in total, including 15 million carp and 10 million Shabut. After the fish reach a certain size, they will be released into inland waters in 10 different provinces.
Targeted Juvenile Fish Breeding Project
Within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with the General Directorate of Fisheries Products of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Şanlıurfa Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, it is planned to raise 25 million baby fish. This project also aims to fish inland waters in 10 provinces and improve the socio-economic status of approximately 5 thousand fishermen.
There are approximately 1.5 million Shabut fry in an area of 5 decares in the fish production facility in Şanlıurfa. After these puppies reach a certain weight, they will be sent to other provinces under appropriate conditions.
Fisheries Branch Manager Hakan Akgün, emphasizing the importance of the project, said, “We will ensure that the inland waters of 10 provinces are stocked with fish with the fingerlings to be sent from Şanlıurfa to other provinces. Significant support is being received within the scope of this project and our work continues to reach the targeted number of fingerlings.”
