The statement said that based on preliminary investigation results, the incident could have been an attack that was carried out by “an effective bomb.” It was stated that Shin Bet was continuing its efforts to identify the man in his 50s who died in the explosion and who was “carrying an explosive device” in his backpack. According to Israeli state television, KAN, it is believed that the suspect “carrying an explosive device” came from the West Bank.
Following the incident, the Israeli police spokesman gave details of the explosion that took place on Lahi Street in Tel Aviv on Sunday evening. It was stated that a man in his 50s who was “carrying an explosive device” died in the explosion, and another person was injured by shrapnel and taken to hospital.
According to the Walla website, Tel Aviv Police Chief Peretz Amar stated that the person who died in the explosion was “not an ordinary individual, he was carrying an explosive device” and that a comprehensive investigation was being conducted to understand the nature of the incident . It was also noted that the domestic intelligence agency Shin Bet was involved in the investigation due to the possibility that the incident was an attempted attack, according to the Israeli state television KAN.
