Events in the Göztepe-Fenerbahçe Match in the Super League
In the Göztepe-Fenerbahçe match, which took place in the 2nd week of the Trendyol Super League, Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç had to go to the away tribune because yellow-dark blue fans were not allowed into the away tribune. As the match started, Ali Koç, who wanted to replace him, was attacked from behind by a person wearing an accreditation card. As a result of this attack, Koç fell to the ground and was able to return to his place with the help of security forces.
Following the incident, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) made a statement and condemned the events. TFF’s statement was as follows:
“Some incidents that we do not want to see on football fields occurred in the Göztepe A.Ş. – Fenerbahçe A.Ş. match, played in the 2nd week of Trendyol Super League.”
“Due to some incidents that occurred when the visiting team’s fans entered the stands, we do not find it appropriate and do not accept that the visiting team’s club president entered the field and intervened against the instructions.”
“However, we find the individual physical intervention against the visiting team club president ugly and do not accept it in any way. We convey our wishes to the President of Fenerbahçe Sports Club to get well soon.”
“It is obvious that the events that took place do not benefit the climate of brotherhood we want to create in football. We would like to emphasize that all stakeholders of football are partners and that these stakeholders should act together in a common sense manner in order “To take the brand value of our football to better levels.”
“The process will be evaluated in detail by the relevant boards of our federation, and the necessary decisions will be taken immediately. It is announced with respect for the public’s information.”
