The government media office in Gaza reacted to Israel’s demand to evacuate the area east of Khan Younis, where the Gaza-Europe Hospital is located. The statement described Israel’s decision to evacuate the Gaza-Europe Hospital and its medical staff as “a new historical crime in Tel Aviv’s record.”
The statement, which stated that Israel aims to create a humanitarian and health crisis in Gaza, where 34 hospitals have been out of service since October 7, said: “The evacuation of the hospital is a humanitarian disaster that will deepen the current health crisis in Gaza, which has reached a level that threatens the lives of thousands of injured and sick people.”
The statement noted that Israel, the United States and the international community are responsible for these crimes targeting the health sector, hospitals and medical personnel in Gaza.
The Israeli army sent a voice recording to Palestinians displaced in the eastern areas of Khan Younis, claiming that the area was a “dangerous conflict zone” and calling for their evacuation. Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee, in a statement on social media on July 1, called on Palestinians to evacuate the areas east of Khan Younis “for their own safety”.
Palestinians in the east of the city were forced to flee to the uninhabited area of al-Mawasi west of Rafah hours after the Israeli army called for it. Workers at the Gaza-Europe Hospital in Khan Younis city began evacuating patients, wounded and equipment yesterday after Israel warned the area where the hospital is located. The patients and wounded evacuated from the Gaza-Europe Hospital, one of the few active health centers in the Gaza Strip, were transferred to Nasser Hospital in the city center.
