According to a written statement by the EU Council, the sanctions launched on May 14 on the grounds that Russia provides military support to armed groups in the Middle East and the Red Sea have been extended until July 27, 2025. The decision will be reviewed once a year
Scope of Sanctions
The sanctions regime set by the EU has listed 12 individuals and 9 entities. These sanctions include freezing assets, banning direct or indirect economic benefits to the individuals and entities on the list, and travel to the EU.
Sanctions Against Iran
The EU condemned Iran’s attacks on Israel with drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles on April 13 and imposed sanctions on them. The aim of the sanctions is to put pressure on Iran and prevent similar attacks.
