Erzurum'un Tarihi Küçük Palandöken Tabyası

Built during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II in Erzurum, the “Small Palandöken Redoubt” stands out with its historical and architectural features at a height of 3 thousand meters on Mount Palandöken. This redoubt was built between 1884-1896, after the 93rd War.

The Bastion was built in accordance with the project drawn by Şahap Paşa in order to control the valley south of the Palandöken Mountain and the Palandöken Pass starting from here and reaching Erzurum. The structure consists of 27 rooms, headquarters, dormitories and artillery rooms, as well as a structure of unknown nature located on the left of the entrance.

The entire cover system of the Small Palandöken Bastion is made of barrel vaults. There are four doors opening from the ward section to the courtyard. The ramps on both sides of the courtyard entrance provide access to the artillery rooms of the bastion.

This centuries-old fortification located on Mount Palandöken displays its historical splendor with images taken with a drone. There are many forts in Erzurum, such as Mecidiye, Aziziye, Uzunahmet and Palandöken, built especially during the reigns of Sultan Abdülmecid, Sultan Abdülaziz and Ottoman Sultan Abdulhamid II.
