President Tayyip Erdoğan made harsh criticisms of social media platforms, saying, “We are faced with digital fascism.” Speaking at the Human Rights Education Program organized by the AK Party Human Rights Presidency, Erdoğan reminded that a large delegation from Turkey attended the funeral ceremony of Hamas Political Bureau Chairman Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar. Erdoğan emphasized that they showed solidarity with the Palestinian people by declaring a day of national mourning in Turkey.

Erdoğan: Dijital Faşizmle Karşı Karşıyayız

Erdoğan said, “But on some screens, some people with bad character could not digest the interest we showed them. Were we supposed to get permission from you and make their decision? We have received the necessary permission from our nation and we are taking our “steps accordingly.”

Everything is Before Our Eyes

Erdogan thanked all the friends of Palestine who filled the squares on August 3rd in Turkey and all around the world in response to Haniyeh’s last call before her martyrdom, and continued his words as follows: “Gaza showed us not only the injustice of the global system , but also its hypocrisy. Everything happened and continues to happen before our eyes. Journalists were murdered, international press organizations did not speak out. Children, women, babies who still smelled of milk were killed. No significant objection was raised by those who talked about human rights and freedoms. Those who set up camp in Istanbul during the Gezi incidents and broadcast live 24 hours a day have been playing the three monkeys in Gaza for ten months. “Those who struggled to save the city bandits during the trench terror have not lifted a finger for the oppressed people of Gaza for ten months.”

They took the ship to its knees

Stating that Western institutions and organizations that are like lions when it comes to Turkey have turned into cats that have spilled milk when faced with Israel, which has massacred 40 thousand people, Erdoğan said, “None of them are visible. The more serious aspect of The issue is that the attitude of these institutions and companies regarding Palestine is even worse than indifference. They have started to openly support massacres. So much so that they resort to every means to hide the Israeli brutality and silence the voice of the Palestinian people. Social media companies in particular have gone overboard and become militant. They consider it their duty to immediately censor even a simple sentence criticizing Israel. We are faced with a digital fascism that cannot even tolerate the photos of Palestinian martyrs and immediately ban them, marketing this. as freedom.”

They Are Like The Mafia In Every Matter

Erdoğan, who stated that Haniyeh’s martyrdom clearly showed that the limits of freedom of thought and expression in Western countries are determined by Israel’s whims, said, “These companies, which encourage all kinds of immorality, prostitution and support for terrorist organizations under the umbrella of “Freedom, have openly declared war on the glorious resistance of the Palestinian people and their heroic children in the virtual world. At this point, we are witnessing firsthand that social media companies act like mafia in every matter that touches their interests.”

Recalling that social media platforms had previously applied double standards on issues related to Turkey, Erdoğan said, “Despite our warnings, all terrorist organizations from FETO to the PKK are free to run wild on these platforms. Lying, provocation and hurt have become the most Prominent characteristics of these platforms. Thousands of people’s lives have been ruined due to reputation assassinations. However, these companies have not taken any effective steps to prevent victimization, despite having all the means at their disposal. We have expressed our discomfort on this issue. Times before. We have also tried to establish a line of dialogue through our relevant institutions. However, we have not yet been able to fully establish the desired cooperation.”

This Is Not How Freedoms Are Defended

“Another situation that is as disturbing as the attitude of the companies is the slippery attitude of the opposition in our country,” said Erdoğan, and made the following statements: “Those who have never criticized the disgrace of social media platforms, those who have not said a word about the fascism that these platforms have spread in the virtual world, then you see them, sitting breathlessly in front of the keyboard and screen, and joining the queue to complain about Turkey to the Westerners through their social media accounts. who have turned into paper tigers in the face of the blatant censorship of these platforms, immediately become lions when it comes to criticizing our country, no offense to anyone, but this is not even called defending freedoms. expression.”

Erdoğan drew attention to the fact that Israel does not only kill the people of Gaza with bombs, and said, “They also massacre them by leaving them hungry, thirsty and without food. Normally, there is no sound from the UN in the face of this cruelty that should raise humanity to its feet. “Neither history nor children will forgive those who have a conscience who scream for joy at the suffering of the oppressed, especially the suffering.” Referring to the assassination of President Ismail Haniyeh, Erdoğan continued as follows: “We were planning to have Mahmoud Abbas speak in our Parliament on the 15th. We had said let’s have our brother Haniyeh speak here as well. We were even making plans with our Parliament Speaker about whether we should have a Parliament or this hall. While we were making that plan, we unfortunately heard the martyrdom the very next day.”
