Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdulati Meets with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process
According to a written statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Bedir Abdulati held a telephone conversation with the United Nations (UN) Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland.
Abdulati, who emphasized the importance of putting pressure on Israel to stop attacks on the Gaza Strip, said that the flow of humanitarian aid has stopped since Israel seized the Rafah Border Crossing. Abdulati said that the restoration of the Rafah Border Crossing is contingent on conditions such as Israel withdrawing from the crossing and the Palestinian Authority regaining control.
Abdulati also touched on the importance of establishing a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible, and pointed out that pressure should be put on the Tel Aviv administration to open Israel’s border gates with Gaza.
