Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdulati and UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini Hold Joint Press Conference on Palestine Refugees
According to the news in the official Egyptian agency MENA, Foreign Minister Badr Abdulati and UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini held a joint press conference in Cairo. Abdulati pointed out that obvious violations were witnessed in the occupied Palestinian territories and stated that UNRWA is one of the most important UN organizations working in the humanitarian field.
Importance and Scope of Activities of UNRWA
Abdulati emphasized the importance of the role undertaken by UNRWA, stating that the organization’s activities are not limited to the Gaza Strip, but also include Palestinian refugees in the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Stating that UNRWA is the only organization authorized to provide aid and support to Palestinian refugees, Abdulati emphasized that his country will not accept or allow any alternative to UNRWA.
UNRWA’s Credibility and International Support
The Egyptian Minister called on international donors and society to reconsider the suspension of their financial contributions to UNRWA, stating that this situation is unacceptable. Abdulati stressed that the suspension of financial contributions to “complicity in forced starvation and the use of starvation as a weapon of collective punishment”, and stressed that UNRWA’s activities will continue until Palestinian refugees receive their rights.
Occupied Israel Attacks Southwest Gaza
It was reported that the occupying Israeli army entered the southwest of the Gaza city center during the day and launched an attack, resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of people. In the attack, which also displaced thousands of Palestinians, Israeli warplanes and artillery units heavily bombed various parts of Gaza city.
