With the arrival of summer in Gaza, children in particular are adversely affected by the hot weather conditions. Children are among those most affected by the overheating of tents. Some families resort to methods such as pouring water on their children’s heads to cool them down.
Suha El Semmuni, a 24-year-old mother of 5 children who had to migrate from the north of Gaza, states that her children suffer from skin diseases due to water shortage and increasing temperature in the region. Stating that he has not been able to communicate with his wife for 8 months, El Sammuni fulfills his duties as both mother and father to his children despite the difficult living conditions in Gaza. El Semmuni, who deals with difficult tasks such as carrying water in order to survive, struggles hard to keep her children healthy.
El Semmuni stated that he could not find the necessary medicines for his children’s treatment due to the embargo imposed by Israel on the region, and that the lack of healthy living conditions reduces the effectiveness of the medicines. El Semmuni, who had to travel a long way to meet his toilet needs, tries to meet the needs of his children with the bucket in the tent.
