Entering a pond to cool off in the Yatağan district of MUĞLA, Syrian mother Velide Zaza (34) and her children Abdulgani (8) and Muhammed Nurettin Zaza (7) unfortunately drowned and lost their lives.
The incident took place at the Kazan Pond in the Yenikarakuyu Neighborhood. Fortunately, Adil Zaza (36) went to the Kazan Pond with his wife Velide and children Abdülgani and Muhammed Nurettin Zaza to have a picnic. Mother Velide entered the area where the water was 3 meters deep to cool off with her two children.
Seeing his wife and sons struggling, father Adil jumped into the water and tried to save them. Unable to save his wife and children by his own means, the father called the 112 Emergency Call Center. Fire, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene upon the report.
It was determined that the mother and her two children, who were pulled from the pond by the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Underwater Search and Rescue teams, had lost their lives at the scene. The bodies of the mother Velide and her two sons, Abdülgani and Muhammed Nurettin Zaza, were taken to the Muğla Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy. An investigation has been launched into the incident by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
One of the striking details at the scene was the presence of a warning sign stating that entering the water was dangerous and prohibited.
