The 98th Gazi Race, one of the most important races in Turkish horse racing since 1927, was held at the Istanbul Veliefendi Hippodrome. This year’s winner was a thoroughbred named Dragon Flame. Dragon Flame finished the race in first place and earned its owner a prize of 13 million 500 thousand liras.
The second place Thoroughbred received a prize of 5 million 400 thousand lira, the third place 2 million 700 thousand lira, the fourth place 1 million 350 thousand lira, and the fifth place 675 thousand lira. In total, the total prize money to be won by the first five Thoroughbreds is 23 million 625 thousand lira.
Dragon Flame’s owner earned a total of 20 million 967 thousand liras in addition to the first prize, including registration fees, installation fees and horse owner bonus. The owner, who is also a foal breeder, will win a prize of 24 million 848 thousand 250 liras, including the breeding bonus.
