D-8 countries came together in Istanbul to solve their foreign exchange problems. Members met at the New Generation Barter System Symposium.
Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu, Secretary General of D-8 Organization Ambassador Isiaka Abdulkadir İmam, Secretary of Bangladesh Ministry of Trade Ayşe Akhter, AS Holding Chairman of the Board Murat Doğanay, Istanbul University Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Zülfikar, delegations of member countries and private sector representatives attended the meeting.
“Barter trade offers an alternative solution for establishing trade balances”
Mustafa Tuzcu stated that D-8 has placed a responsibility on member countries to implement new formations and methods in order to open up an alternative space for the power and capabilities of Muslim countries within the global order.
At the symposium, the Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey and the Deputy Minister of Trade of Bangladesh gave speeches and expressed their support. Eximbanks and Export Banks from D-8 countries showed great participation. The Rector, Dean and University Professors of Istanbul University, which is a Solution Partner in the D-8 New Generation Barter System study, also took part.
After the symposium, a center called Barter Clearing House will be established in Istanbul to initiate the New Generation Barter System among the D-8 countries and agreements will be made between the countries.
