A saddening incident occurred during the canal works carried out by a subcontractor company affiliated with the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ) at a construction site in Akbaşak Street, Tepeören District. As a result of a sudden collapse during the works, two workers were trapped underground.
Immediately after the incident, fire, police, health and AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification from people in the area. The teams are working hard to rescue the workers trapped under the rubble.
There is a great deal of traffic at the scene as we try to get up-to-date information on the workers’ conditions and the progress of rescue efforts. The dedicated efforts of the teams continue to ensure the safe rescue of the workers.
