AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made important statements on his social media account regarding the advisory opinion of Lebanese Judge Nawaf Salam, President of the International Court of Justice, regarding the legal consequences of Israel’s practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, in a public session.
Çelik stated that the ICJ’s latest decision, which emphasized that Israel is an occupying power in Gaza, Jerusalem and the West Bank, is of great importance and noted the following:
- “It is important to underline that the International Court of Justice stated that all states are obliged not to recognize Israel’s presence in the occupied Palestinian territories and not to provide aid or support to Israel. This decision has once again confirmed the international community’s struggle for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination in their own land.”
Çelik also added: “We would like to express once again that we are against all of Israel’s policies that are against human rights, international law and agreements, and that we are legally pursuing the results of these policies. We will continue to stand by the “just cause of the Palestinian people and fight for our Palestinian brothers and sisters for the establishment of a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
