CHP’s Harsh Response to Israel: Response to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan
Israeli Foreign Minister İsrael Katz’s posts containing insults and threats towards President Tayyip Erdoğan were harshly criticized by leading figures of the CHP. Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mansur Yavaş and the CHP Youth Branch condemned Katz’s statements via social media. Namık Tan, the CHP’s Deputy Chairman responsible for foreign policy, who described Turkey’s Blue Homeland Doctrine as a “fairy tale,” heavily criticized Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Reaction to Israel’s So-Called Sovereignty
Responding to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s words, “Its owners must now take its leash and protect it. The region is no longer in a position to tolerate Israeli provocations,” Tan accused Fidan of “being carried away by delirium” and “not knowing diplomacy.” Tan disregarded Palestine’s right to sovereignty by ignoring the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza.
Reference to United Nations Principles
Tan, who emphasized Hakan Fidan’s “on a leash” expression in the statements made after the martyrdom of Palestinian leader Ismail Haniyeh, referred to the principles of the United Nations and stated that interfering in the internal affairs of countries is against the rules of diplomacy. Tan defined the genocide, massacres and assassinations carried out by the terrorist state of Israel as actions targeting the “internal affairs” of this country. Tan, who said the following about Fidan, “Those who hear him like to speak with ‘big’ and ambitious words that give the impression of ‘wisdom’ and ‘expertise’,” used the expression “cliental crowds” for the millions of people who took the side of the Palestinians against Israel’s genocide.
Discussions on the Blue Homeland Doctrine
Namık Tan had described the Blue Homeland doctrine that Turkey created to protect its maritime borders as a “fairy tale”. Unable to slow down, Tan drew attention by liking the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) to the Russian mercenary group Wagner. In his speech during the Somalia movement discussions that were accepted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly, he made scandalous statements about the Blue Homeland and the TAF.
