BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) — China’s Ministry of Finance is providing additional support for urgently repairing roads in areas damaged by natural disasters. An additional 45 million yuan (about 6.31 million US dollars) has been allocated to quickly rebuild roads in flood-hit Anhui, Hubei, Chongqing and Heilongjiang regions, the ministry said.
The funds provided by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport will support the rapid restoration of transport infrastructure in flood-damaged areas. A total of 105 million yuan was previously allocated for emergency road repairs in Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou.
These funds are being mobilized quickly to ensure road safety and aid victims during the flood season. Heavy rains in southern China have damaged infrastructure and caused human casualties.
Heavy rains and storms are still continuing in parts of China, prompting the country’s meteorological and water resources authorities to issue a red alert for mountain floods, warning caution.
