China Sends Flood Relief Supplies to Hubei Province

BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) — China’s Ministry of Emergency Management sent emergency supplies to Hubei province to support the country’s flood control and disaster relief efforts.

Flood relief supplies worth 13.33 million yuan (about US$1.87 million) were allocated to Hubei province by the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Center of China and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration. Relief supplies include woven bags, inflatable boats, drainage pumps and electricity generators.

The Hubei Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Office upgraded flood response from level four to level three at 16:00 on Friday. Heavy rains and storms in central China’s Hubei Province since June 21 have negatively impacted the lives of 417,100 people in 28 counties. According to the Provincial Emergency Management Department, disaster relief supplies have been rapidly allocated to relevant areas affected by the floods.
