The accident occurred at around 13:50 on the TEM Highway in the Yesilkent Neighborhood. For reasons yet unknown, a tour bus with the license plate BH 8717 PP, bringing tourists from Ukraine to Turkey, crashed into the back of a truck with the license plate 34 DP 7798, which was travelling in the same direction.
The rear cover of the truck, which was thrown by the impact, first hit the Ukrainian-plated passenger bus, then the 3 vehicles behind, causing a chain reaction accident. Upon notification from the surrounding area, many health, police and fire teams were dispatched to the scene.
Police teams arriving at the scene took security measures in the area and ensured the flow of traffic. A total of 8 people, including 2 children, were injured in the chain accident involving 5 vehicles and were taken to the nearest hospitals by ambulance after receiving first aid from medical teams. The two lanes of the TEM Highway that were closed to traffic returned to normal after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the road.
“Many Injured” – Eyewitness Interview
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident, Mustafa Yanaral, said: “Suddenly there was a commotion, the bus entered the right side, and in the meantime it hit the truck. After hitting the truck, the truck hit us. It was a complete mess, all of a sudden it was a life-or-death struggle. There were many injured people, everyone on the left side of the bus was injured. When it hit the truck, the back of the truck cut the left side. A total of 5-6 vehicles were involved in the accident. Because we were in front, when it hit us, we hit the one in front. The vehicle I hit ran away.”
