Gordin’s Buffer Zone Proposal

Gordin'in Tampon Bölge Önerisi

According to the news in Israel Hayom newspaper, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gordin brought up the “buffer zone” proposal for the south of Lebanon in a closed meeting. Gordin touched upon the importance of maintaining control of the Israeli army in this region and said, “The Israeli army should be allowed to establish a buffer zone in the south of Lebanon.” he said

While this proposal increased the tension of the military situation in the region, Gordin’s insistence that “the buffer zone must be controlled by the Israeli army” attracted attention.

On the other hand, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that weapons were distributed to some civilian teams in the north of the country. In the official statement made by the Ministry, it was stated that approximately 9 thousand long-barreled weapons were given to civil defense units in 97 residential areas in the north.

It is stated that this arms distribution took place after Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, and that it further complicates the situation, considering that the conflicts between the Israeli army and Hezbollah on the Lebanese border, which started on October 8, 2023, continue.
