In a statement on the BfV website, it was warned that Russia’s sabotage activities against Europe were on the rise, and drew attention to findings that Russian intelligence services were particularly evaluating the social media profiles of employees of German companies. The statement, titled “Protection against sabotage”, included the following statements:
“The extent of the risk of sabotage by Russia in Germany and Europe depends on the development of the situation surrounding Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the development of the ongoing conflict between Russia and the West. The cases observed throughout Europe since 2023 and the “increasing indications of possible activities in Germany are currently prompting a reassessment. There is an increased risk of sabotage activities or corresponding preparatory actions in Germany.”
