Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to Massoud Pezeshkian, who became the 9th President of Iran by receiving 53.7 percent of the votes in the second round of the presidential elections.
Expressing his heartfelt congratulations on Pezeshkian’s election as the President of Iran, Aliyev said, “We attach great importance to the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, which are based on solid foundations such as common religious and cultural roots, friendship and brotherhood. We are pleased that our mutually beneficial cooperation, which has been developing dynamically in all areas, especially in the economy, transportation, energy and humanitarian fields, has reached today’s level and gained new content over the past decades.”
Invited to Azerbaijan
Emphasizing that relations between Azerbaijan and Iran are based on mutual respect and good neighborliness, Aliyev said: “Agreements reached on the future development of our relations, joint projects implemented to serve the welfare of our countries, sustainable development and security of the region as a whole. I am sure that with our joint efforts we will further strengthen the traditional friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iran in the interests of our people and countries and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.”
Inviting Pezeshkian to visit Azerbaijan to exchange ideas on the perspectives of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, Aliyev wished Pezeshkian success in his duty.
