Living in the Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Neighborhood of the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya, Arda Taşdemir went through a difficult process in his education life after the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023. Taşdemir, whose house was damaged by the earthquake, continued his education at Cemil Meriç Science High School in Elazığ and graduated.
The young talent, who settled in Elazığ with his family due to the earthquake, returned to Malatya after this five-month period. Then, Taşdemir, who managed to enter the first 5000 in the YKS, prepared for the exam again without making a preference and this year, he came first in the AYT numerical category.
Despite the difficulties caused by the earthquake, Arda Taşdemir crowned his success with his determination and diligence. The successful student said in his statement, “I can say that the result was a surprise for me. My goal was to be in the top 1000, but this result made me very happy. I was able to focus on my studies with the support of my family and teachers. It was also a great advantage to have the opportunity to study in a quiet environment at home.”
Taşdemir, who will do research on university preferences, stated that he is aiming for Istanbul Technical University, which he has dreamed of since childhood. However, he stated that he will also evaluate other universities before making his decision.
Thanking his family and teachers for their efforts in Taşdemir’s success, Physical Education teacher father Gökhan Taşdemir emphasized that his son’s disciplined and goal-oriented studies were effective in his success.
Mother Serpil Taşdemir stated that her son has never upset her since the day he was born, and said, “Arda achieved this success thanks to his determination and diligence. I never told him to study for a single day, he acted with his own motivation . My advice to other mothers is to support their children instead of pressuring them and allow them to set their own goals.”
