Allegations of Sexual Torture in Israeli Army
According to a statement from the Israeli army, details were shared regarding the hearing held for 9 soldiers who allegedly sexually tortured Palestinian prisoners. It was stated that the hearing decided to extend the detention period of the 8 accused soldiers until August 4. The military court stated that the evidence presented “created reasonable suspicion” that the 8 soldiers harmed the Palestinian prisoner.

The Sde Teiman detention center in southern Israel, where Gazans are held, has frequently been in the news with investigation of torture. A report in the New York Times last month stated that Gazans held at the Sde Teiman detention center were blindfolded and handcuffed for long periods of time in an open area.
