Details of the incident
In the incident that took place in the Yenice district of Karabük, AK Party Provincial Assembly Member Recep Tetik and his sons were attacked by Kayadibi village headman Sebahattin Karakaya. The course of the incident development follows:
Moment of the Event
- The argument that started between Cooperative President Cavit Karakaya and AK Party Yenice Provincial Assembly Member Recep Tetik, who live in the same village, quickly turned into a fight.
- During the fight, Recep Tetik and his children Onur and Sezai Tetik were injured and taken to hospital.
Detention
Following the incident, village headman Sebahattin Karakaya and cooperative president Cavit Karakaya were detained by the gendarmerie to give their statements.
Victim’s Statement
Recep Tetik stated that the attacker used profane language and attacked him with a stick. The trigger also made the following statements:
“During the incident, my son Onur and I were in front of the Yentaş company in Kayadibi. Sebahattin Karakaya came to us from his house and started using profane language. When I said ‘speak correctly’, he attacked me with a stick in his hand. While I was fending off the stick, his wife hit me in the back. Sebahattin hit my son Onur in the head with a piece of wood in his hand. Then his siblings and children came to the scene. His nephew Deniz hit me in the back with a hammer in his hand. A total of 20-25 people continued the attack.”
