Official Statement from the Israeli Army
According to Israeli-based Channel 12 television, the Israeli army officially informed the families of soldiers named Ron Sherman, Nick Beiser and civilian prisoner Elia Toledano that these people lost their lives in an attack carried out by Israel.
The Israeli army announced that it found the lifeless bodies of three captives in a tunnel in the Gaza Strip on December 14, 2023 and launched an investigation on this issue. However, in the news published by Channel 12 on September 9, it was claimed that these three Israeli prisoners died during the army’s air strikes on the Gaza Strip, approximately 9 months ago, but that they hid this situation from the public.
In the news, it was stated that the pathology results showing that there were three prisoners with him in the attack in which Ahmed al-Gandur, the commander of the Northern Division in Gaza, was martyred, were delivered to his families in January. However, it was claimed that the army could not reach a clear conclusion as to whether the cause of death of the prisoners was drowning or poisoning.
As a result of additional investigations upon the requests of the families, it became clear that the deaths of the prisoners occurred as a result of an Israeli attack. It was stated that in August, officials from the army went to the families of the prisoners and conveyed these results.
