Investigation into Former Prime Minister Hasina in Bangladesh

Bangladeş'te Eski Başbakan Hasina Hakkında Soruşturma

According to The Daily Star newspaper, Islam, the new chief prosecutor of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), made important statements at the press conference he held in the capital Dhaka. Islam said, “Necessary steps will be taken to bring back former Prime Minister Hasina within the framework of the extradition agreement with India, to be tried on prosecution of mass murder during the protests led by students in July and August this year.” he said

Islam stated that collecting all the evidence related to the “genocide” accusations regarding the events that took place in July and August was one of the biggest difficulties. In this context, “Information, documents and evidence against the accused persons will need to be collected from all over the country, compiled, examined and properly presented before the court. This is a very challenging and comprehensive task.” he said

Islam also emphasized that the prosecution team will apply for the arrest of the defendants during the investigation process and said, “We will take the necessary steps to ensure justice for everyone involved in the genocide, and the trials will be conducted in a manner acceptable to “all parties.” he said

On August 15, an official investigation was launched in Bangladesh against 10 high-ranking officials, including former Prime Minister Hasina, who left the country and went to India due to anti-government protests, alleging that “genocide and crimes against humanity” were committed during the demonstrations.
