The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has published a new circular that will implement the Türkiye Century Education Model in all provinces for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. This innovative model offers students a comprehensive educational approach that aims to support their mental, social, emotional, physical and moral development.
Training Processes Will Continue
Trainer training will be carried out for teachers between 2-6 September 2024 under the coordination of provincial national education directorates. These trainings are planned both theoretically and practically for teachers at the grade level where the model will be applied, and trainings for teachers at other grade levels will be organized by the provincial national education directorates on a branch basis during the break and will be carried out in groups of maximum 50 people.
Exam Stress Will Be Eliminated
Last year, the Ministry of Education abolished the exam practice at the primary school level. However, due to parents who did not want their children to fall behind in the exam race, trial exams continued to be held starting from the first grade. With its new decision, the Ministry banned trial exams from the first grade until the beginning of high school. Assessment activities in the classroom will be designed to measure students’ knowledge and skill levels, as well as to generate data on learning deficiencies and trends. Thus, students will be prevented from being put into a race with trial exams held throughout the province, district and school, and exam stress will not be experienced at an early age.
There Will Be No Competition Environment
In the circular published regarding the new curriculum to be implemented at the pre-school, primary school 1st, secondary school 5th, high school preparatory and 9th grade levels in the 2024-2025 academic year, the Ministry stated that measurement and evaluation practices will be implemented with a process-oriented and developmental approach in accordance with the Turkey Century Education Model. He emphasized that it will be carried out with During the academic year, there will be no exams throughout the province, district or school to rank students according to their academic achievements and include them in a competition.
