Statement from the Israeli Army
In its written statement, the Israeli army shared the details of an armed operation at the King Hussein (Allenby) Border Gate between Israel and Jordan. In the statement, it was stated that a person who got out of a truck at the King Hussein Border Gate opened fire on the security forces. As a result of this attack, 3 Israelis were injured and unfortunately lost their lives. It was also reported that the attacker was neutralized by security forces.
In the statement, it was stated that a detailed investigation was launched upon “suspicion of explosives” in the truck where the attacker got off. Initial news included information that a total of 3 people were injured, two of them seriously, in this armed operation at the King Hussein Border Gate, and the injured, whose condition was critical, were taken to hospital.
Following the incident, security measures in the region were increased and a large-scale operation was launched to control the situation. It is thought that such attacks may lead to tense relations between the two countries.
