Who is Aydemir Akbaş?

Master actor Aydemir Akbaş was born in the Feriköy district of Istanbul in 1936, as the child of an Albanian father who came to Turkey during the Balkan wars and a mother from Trabzon. After completing Galatasaray High School, he worked as a journalist for a while. He started acting in theater with the guidance of Altan Erbulak.

Akbaş, who worked with famous theater companies such as Gülriz Sururi, Ayfer Feray-Nisa Serezli, Ali Poyrazoğlu, took part in important theater plays such as “Keşanlı Ali Destanı”, “Direkler Arası”, “Zilli Zarife” and “Ferhat ile Şirin” “. After completing his military service in Suruç district of Urfa in 1960, he joined the Gülriz Sururi–Engin Cezzar Theatre.

Starred in 127 Movies

Akbaş, who starred in 127 films, mostly comedies, directed 8 films and performed in nearly 30 theater plays. He also played an important role in the TV series “Raspberry”, which was adapted into a script by Fırat Zobu from the play “Arsenic and Old Lace”, written by Joseph Kesselring in 1939, and met with the audience on TRT 1 in 1974 -1975. In 2013, he appeared in the TV series “Altındağlı”. In addition to acting, Akbaş also wrote scripts and wrote the scripts of 33 films in total.

The master actor, who entered the cinema in 1964 with the movie “Keşanlı Ali Destanı” directed by Atıf Yılmaz, gave life to the character of “Sipsi Selim” by acting as the stage manager in the first theatrical performance of the same work on March 31, 1964.

Aydemir Akbaş attracted attention by taking part in the play “7 Kocalı Hürmüz”, staged at the Ayfer Feray-Nisa Serezli Theater in 1968. In 1969, he became one of the partners of Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theatre. He took part in the plays “Nikah Paper” and “Düşenin Dostu” and was successful in directing many theater plays.

The artist also appeared in Yeşilçam films and Yılmaz Güney films in 1974. In the following years, he worked on scripts with İbrahim Tatlıses.

He Was Loved for His Role in the Kolpaçino Series

Akbaş, who started his directorial career in 1987 with the movie “Düş Yakamdan Osman”, also met with the audience in the “Kolpaçino” film series and “Kutsal Damacana 2: İt Men” with Şafak Sezer. Aydemir Akbaş also appeared before the audience in the films “1 Night in the World” in 2016, “Sünnet Çocuğu” in 2022 and “Kolpaçino 4 4’lük” in 2023.

The artist, who first married theater actress Beyhan Benek in 1964, had three marriages in total with her husband, whom she divorced twice.
