Israel’s Military Activities in Jenin and Tulkerim
Israel continues to intervene in the ongoing conflicts with resistance forces in the region by sending new military reinforcements to the cities of Jenin and Tulkerim. While the effects of the blockade that has been going on for the last 8 days are increasing in the refugee camp in the city of Jenin, news from the region and eyewitness accounts reveal the extent of the conflict.
The occupying Israeli army has increased the blockade of the Jenin Refugee Camp with land-based military vehicles, construction equipment and airborne unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to the information provided by eyewitnesses, the occupying forces caused great destruction around the refugee camp and other parts of the city of Jenin, while releasing some of the people they interrogated after detaining them for a few days.
As a result of the military operations carried out by the Israeli army, the main roads in the city of Jenin, the refugee camp and the infrastructure in the neighborhoods in the east of the city were severely damaged. Israeli construction equipment has cut off water, electricity and communication lines by carrying out excavation and destruction work in these areas.
While a similar situation is happening in Tulkerim, Israeli forces continue to blockade the refugee camp. Military raids and house searches lead to excavations that cause great damage to the infrastructure in the streets and avenues of the city. Eyewitnesses report that Israeli soldiers carried out forced raids by detonating explosives they placed at the entrances of houses, and these explosions caused fires to break out in some places.
The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that it provided health care to 8 people who were in danger of drowning due to fires that broke out as a result of explosive interventions placed at the entrances of houses during the raids.
On the other hand, Fatah Movement Central Committee Deputy Secretary General Sabri Saydam, who made important statements about the increasing Israeli attacks in the West Bank, stated that the policies implemented by the occupying Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in Gaza continue in the West Bank. Saydam emphasized that Netanyahu’s goal is not to ensure the security of Israelis, but to remain in his political seat.
Saydam condemned the attacks against Palestinians, saying, “Netanyahu’s eyes are on the West Bank while he continuously launches his missiles at the Gaza Strip.” He also stated that Netanyahu sees Palestinians as terrorists and uses this situation as an excuse to end the resistance. “Netanyahu wants to destroy the resistance, whatever its form, because he considers the existence of Palestine as resistance.” he said
