One of the leading think tanks in the USA Chicago Council on Global AffairsA recent poll by the US has revealed some striking data on American attitudes towards the Middle East, and particularly the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. According to the survey results, 61% of Americans say the US has a “constructive and positive” role in the Middle East, despite feeling criticized both domestically and internationally for its unconditional support for Israel.
In the section of the survey on Israel and Gaza, more than half of the American public said they “approve of US support for Israel,” but also agreed that this support “should be limited.” Specifically, 53% of Americans emphasized that US military aid to Israel should be limited “on the condition that it is not used against the Palestinians.” Of the same respondents, 60% said they support continuing US military aid to Israel until the prisoners are freed.
One of the striking results revealed by the data was that 30% of Americans think that “the US supports Israel too much.” Similarly, 34% of those who think that the Biden administration has provided “too much” arms aid to Israel to date were determined. 1 in 3 participants also said that the US has not provided enough aid to Gaza.
