Hamas’ Statements on the Negotiation Process

Hamas'ın Müzakere Süreci Üzerine Açıklamaları

“Hamas will definitely not take part in the negotiations that are expected to resume in Doha or Cairo,” said Hindi, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau.

“Israel Must Make Clear Commitment”

Hindi said Hamas had demanded that the mediators present a plan to implement the provisions agreed upon on July 2 (based on Biden’s vision and the UN Security Council resolution) and that Israel give a clear commitment to commit by this plan. He stressed that if these conditions are met, Hamas is ready to enter the implementation process of the agreement.

US Wants Hamas to Join

US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said that they hope that Israel will participate in the ceasefire talks in Gaza, which are expected to be held in Doha or Cairo on Thursday, August 15, as well as Hamas.

“Israel Puts Forward New Conditions in the Negotiation Process”

In a joint statement issued on August 8, the mediators from the US, Egypt and Qatar called for negotiations to resume in Cairo or Doha on August 15 for a ceasefire and prisoner swap in Gaza. Hamas responded to this call with the following statements:

“Both we and the Egyptian and Qatari mediators know the intentions and attitudes of Israel and the Benjamin Netanyahu government. Despite this, we approached the latest proposal positively. However, Israel put forward new conditions regarding this proposal that were not put forward during the negotiation process.” US Three-Phase Ceasefire Plan

US President Joe Biden announced the three-phase ceasefire plan proposed by Israel on May 31. This plan includes a permanent ceasefire, Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza, the mutual release of hostages and detainees, the return of displaced Palestinians to Gaza, the uninterrupted and Adequate delivery of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction of Gaza. However, Netanyahu later put forward new conditions regarding the prisoner swap negotiations. These conditions included “preventing the movement of armed Palestinians from the south to the north and the Israeli army remaining in the Philadelphia Corridor on the border of Gaza and Egypt.”

Names to Participate in Negotiations

It is reported that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, CIA Director Burns, Egyptian Intelligence Director Abbas Kamil and Mossad Director David Barnea will attend the negotiations to be held in Doha tomorrow.
