According to Kyodo News, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set up high-resolution cameras in the city to prepare for possible natural disasters. These cameras are located at the government building, bridges near Tokyo Bay and strategic points in the west of the city.
Governorate officials stated that the AI-supported system analyzes camera footage to detect smoke or damage to buildings. The main purpose of this system is to accelerate emergency response during strong earthquakes and to quickly detect possible fires and building collapses in the event of a disaster.
It was also emphasized that the system has the capacity to respond more quickly to disasters by providing instant information to relevant institutions such as the police and fire departments. In this way, it is aimed to carry out a more effective preparation process against possible disasters in Tokyo.
