TEKNOFEST 2022: Hyperloop Development Competition Final Process Has Started
Held for the first time in Turkey in 2022 Hyperloop Development Competition, started with great excitement within the scope of TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival. This year, the final process, in which young people will participate by focusing on new generation transportation technologies, It will be held at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus between 13-17 August.
A total of 6 participants from different provinces of Turkey participated in the competition. 16 teams and 328 competitors, will be in fierce competition. In total, in 2024, 241 applicationsThe teams participating in this competition will be evaluated in the Development Report and Technical Design Report (TTR) stages.
In the final of the competition, in addition to the Performance Awards, the Innovation AwardsAnd Steel Levitation Awardand the innovative aspects, technical differences and achievements of the teams’ vehicles will also be rewarded. Innovation Awards will be given in the following categories:
- Electromagnetic Levitation System Development
- Propulsion System Development
- Infrastructure Development
- Communication System Development
- Mechanical System Development (brake, integration, capsule)
With the Hyperloop Development Competition, TÜBİTAK aims to contribute to the worldwide technological development in high-speed transportation systems and to establish an infrastructure that will enable the design and testing of capsules.
Prizes and Purpose of the Competition
The aim of the competition is to raise awareness in the field of magnetic levitation (maglev) technologies, to provide students with knowledge on new generation transportation technologies and to encourage teamwork. It is also aimed to pioneer the formation of competent human resources in this field by developing hyperloop technologies with practical applications. First prize in the competition 200 thousand TL, second prize 150 thousand TL, the third prize is 120 thousand TLwas determined as.
Increased Speed, Safety and Efficiency in Transportation
Hyperloop, which adds a new dimension to conventional transportation systems, is defined as a “high-level rapid transportation vehicle.” This technology promises to open a new era in transportation. The Hyperloop Development Competition was designed as a technology-focused competition that allows for the development of different types of magnetic levitation and propulsion technologies. In this way, it is expected that university students will also enter the innovative transportation technology studies referred to as the 5th Generation.
TEKNOFEST took action to prepare young people for the future so that our country can play an active role in new generation technologies that have strategic importance in the field of logistics. In the competition, in which national and international associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students participate, support is also provided for the projects of the teams.
Innovation Awards at Hyperloop Development Competition
The innovation awards to be held within the scope of the competition are eagerly awaited by young people. Electromagnetic Levitation System Development, Propulsion System Development, Infrastructure Development, Communication System Development and Mechanical System DevelopmentAwards will be given in 5 different categories including. The teams will present the subsystems they developed to the jury and the best presentations will be entitled to receive a prize worth 30,000 TL.
