March for Palestine in Front of Fatih Mosque
Approximately 3,000 people gathered in front of the Fatih Mosque and organized a meaningful march accompanied by Turkish and Palestinian flags and banners with the word tawhid written on them. The participants marched with keffiyehs wrapped around their necks and banners reading “Until Palestine is free”, while frequently chanting slogans against Israel and the US. The action, which was supported by the surrounding citizens, ended in Edirnekapı. After the march, the participants showed solidarity by chanting the takbir.
The program held here began with a recitation from the Quran. Prayers were said for those who lost their lives, were injured and were affected by the attacks in Gaza. Mavi Marmara Freedom and Solidarity Association President Beheşti İsmail Songür emphasized in his speech that the perception of Gaza that Israel reflects to the world press and media is completely misleading. Songür stated that it is actually possible to reach Gaza by ship and that the Freedom Flotilla they have prepared has encountered various obstacles.
If we continue with Songür’s words: “Which international agreement is Israel currently abiding by? Human rights agreements? The condemnations of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)? The reports of United Nations observers? While Israel was killing innocent children, starving people to death, and destroying the entire city “With huge bombs, without distinguishing between civilians, women or children, which agreement did it monument by?”
Cemal Yilmaz, a volunteer educator for IHH, said in his speech that Muslim countries and administrators have left the Palestinian people alone. However, he stated that the people of Gaza have never compromised on their faith in Allah. Yilmaz said that this situation once again revealed how strong the will of the Palestinian people to resist is.
