Hamas Statement of Support for Colombia
Hamas issued a written statement commending the Republic of Colombia for its courageous stance in its decision to end diplomatic relations with the Zionist regime (Israel) and condemning the genocidal war being waged against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The statement called on all countries to sever ties with Israel. It also stressed that Israel should be boycotted, isolated, sanctioned and its leaders tried as “war criminals” in international courts. In this context, Hamas stated that the international community should take a more active role in this matter.
According to the news on Colombia’s BlueRadio radio channel, President Gustavo Petro has signed a decree banning coal exports to Israel in an effort to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Petro drew attention to the situation on his account on the social media platform X, quoting BlueRadio’s report, saying, “They are making bombs that are killing Palestinian children with Colombian coal.”
Colombia announced on May 3 that it was officially ending diplomatic relations with Israel, citing attacks on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. This decision drew international attention and was welcomed by many human rights advocates.
