New Visitor Management Plan at Kariye Mosque
According to the latest statement from the General Directorate, Kariye Mosque has undergone significant changes due to increasing visitor demands. In this context, the “Visitor Management Plan for Protection” will be implemented as of tomorrow.
The statement said that the Kariye Mosque would be open only for worship on Fridays. On other days, it was emphasized that tourist visits would be stopped 15 minutes before the daily prayers. This is considered a precaution taken to protect the spirit of the mosque and ensure the peace of worshippers.
It was also stated that free entrance to the mosque will be provided to citizens of the Republic of Turkey and Muslim foreigners who come to worship. In this context, it is aimed that visitors will experience the historical and cultural values of the mosque while not disturbing the worshipers.
- On Fridays:Open for worship only.
- Other Days:Tourist visits will be stopped 15 minutes before the daily prayers.
- Free admission:Valid for citizens of the Republic of Turkey and Muslim foreigners who come to worship.
